Hi, everyone.  I'm on these boards everyday trying to absorb as much info as I can and would like to read more from my WV peers.  Please introduce yourself or give an update on how you are doing.    As for me, I'm in my 2nd month of a 3 month prep for band surgery.  Mr. doctor is Dr. Shin, who I'm very happy with so far.  I can be found at the gym 4 days/week.  I'm hoping to get banded in March. - Pat

Hi Pat

My name is Karen and I live in Bluefield.  I am having the vertical sleeve surgery on 2/3 with Dr. Stickler in Charleston.  I don't write much on hear because I really don't have much to say that is going to encourage anyone else right now.  Maybe if my surgery goes well, I will be more at ease to share then.  I hope your surgery goes well and you have much success!!

Hi, Karen!  Congratulations on your surgery date of 2/3.  I envy you!  I'm hoping for a March date.  I would like to know if you have found a protein product that you particularly like or dislike.  Thanks much, - Pat

Hi I'm Ellen and I live in Charleston. After a lot of drama, changing insurance companies and one postponement, I'm having lap-band surgery with Dr. Shin. I'm starting to get excited and nervous too ... face it, I'm breaking up with my BFF Food and it's not an easy process.

Hi, Ellen!  Congratulations!  Do you have a surgery date yet?  Also, have you found a protein source you especially like or dislike?  The only one I've tried so far that I really like are the Adkins shakes. - Pat

HI -
I had my surgery Monday and am doing fine - very little pain, although I have been very hungry, especially yesterday. As far as protein goes, I sent away for samples from Unjury and like the unflavored in other foods, so I might go ahead and get the full jar. The chicken soup was ok, but tended to have a bitter afterbite to it. I've been drinking Slim-Fast Lo-Carb diet and I bought some Kroger Brand chocolate flavor to try. (BTW, SF Lo-Carb has more protein then the high protein ... go figure!)

Hi All, I'm Laureen from Wheeling.
Had Lap bad April 16, 2007 at 14 months i had lost 145 pounds.
It has been slowing down. I fall off the wagon now and than But I'm not perfect.
And I get back right away. Had to pay out of pocket for surgery, was refused from insurance company. Best money I ever sent. Best  Doc in the World......
Have to remember to do you protein and drink and to be truthful......I'm not the best on exercising but I do try to get in a 3 days sometimes more. Weather a factor right now I like to walk
Good Luck ALL

Hello there,

My name is Jana and I am on my 3rd month of my doctor supervised program. 2.5 more to go.
I have to get a scope done on March 6. Hoping to have the surgery in April. I have Dr Shin and he is an amazing and wonderful doctor. I am glad I am doing this for myself.
I am putting myself at the top of my list as we all should.  I live in Rockport which is an hour above Charleston.
I would love to keep this board going.  I go on the Lap Band forum a lot.

Hey, Laureen!
I work for Catholic Charities West Virginia and am in Wheeling about once a week and have been kind of looking around for places to eat when I'm up there. I like Generations Pub and they dio a good chili and I'm thinking I can maybe try a slice of DiCarlo's Pizza eventually since their crust isn't very doughy - any other suggestions?
