I NEED HELP
Hi Joy have you tried making your own or adding some thing to the pre made ones? Dont forget peanut butter and cheese are very good sources of protein but is high in carbs and tuna is good and it isnt high in carbs as well as eggs tuna salad is good as is chichken salad/ I am sorry but I have been away and dot kow when you had yur surgery so all of these suggestions may be to soon for you.
I bought some whey protein powder and I add some s/f vanilla pudding a little peanut butter and maybe a bite of a banana something we learned at a group meeting dont add your protein powder until you are ready to eat/ drink it as it will start loosing the effectivness as soon as you add the protien powder.

Hi sweetie. I couldn't/can't do ANY protein drinks, and seriously, I think I tried them all. I couldn't tolerate any of them. The smell and the taste, oh my gah! As soon as I lifted them to take a drink I started gagging. So I def. feel your pain.
I'm doing ok now, only because I'm 7 months post op and can get in most of my protein by food alone. But before.....I drank skim milk. IF you can tolerate milk ok, it and cheese will give you tremendous amounts of protein in little portions. I strongly suggest this.
I did suffer with hair loss though as a result of my lack of protein, so I gotta warn you there. It fell out in gobs! Who knew a person had so much hair in their head? I did have thick hair already, now it's just normal. I've noticed in the past week that it has stopped falling out too! So as they say, it did last the typical 3 or 4 months. Dr. Shin recommended biotin, but honestly, I never did buy any, as he said the damage was already done anyways and that I would just have to see it through.
So if you can, drink lots of milk and eat lots of cheese! *Hugs*
