Today is my last day of having soft drinks. I have been slowly decreasing my amount the past week. well today is Sunday and this is my last day of having Soft drinks. I am scared of waking up tomorrow morning and not having my first drink of soda. It won't be in the house for me to drink but it isn't hard to drive thru and get one. It will now be all up to me. OH THE PRESSURE...LOL

IT MAY HELP TO KEEP A BOTTLE OF WATER ON HAND.  SOME PEOPLE PUT CRYSTAL LITE IN THE WATER WHICH MAY ALSO HELP.  I DON'T DRINK SODA EITHER.  FORTUNATELY I NEVER GOT HOOKED TO IT BECAUSE THE "AIR" ALWAYS MADE ME HICCUP. LOL :)  ANYHOW, YOU CAN DO IT!

Refraining from soda is a tough habit to break for many of us.  I like my Mountain Dew.
It is good tostop gradually like you are before surgery.  That I what I am attempting.
That way I do not have to stop cold turkey.
There are so many things that we must stop, and to stop them all right after surgrey would be sooooo miserable.

I have stopped gum chewing.
Cutting out almost all breads.
I am down to one Dew in the mornings, during the week.  I think it is a crutch, similar to others coffee in the morning.  I dont think I will cut out my morning Dew untill I have a surgery data.

Good luck, and wishing you much success.

Dusty.

I give because I have been given much.

This past April was 2 years since I have had a soda. recently I have thought about having one but have been fighting the urge. I quit cold trukey after my first consult with my surgeon. I drank 1 or 2 20 oz diet pepsi's at work and at least 4 cans of fresca every evening and one in the morning to get me going

Now I drink the wal mart brand of sugar free drink mix. Grape is my favorite, also kroger brand tropical punch. I keep a jug full in the fridge and the individual packs at work. I usually carry a few on my motorcycle when I am out riding. You may be able to tell I am not real big on just plain water.

My surgeon made it pretty clear that I was going to have to make changes for life, so I consider no soda one of those. It's been 19 months since surgery, I know I could probably drink it now with no ill effects, but just one bad habit I don't wish to resume.

One thing I would add to these other comments is  dont think of it as giving things up  but a decision that you have made and  dont think about it... yes  i had tough things  and during the tough times I think   this wa my decision and I knew_____  wasnt going to be a friend anymore  so if I am going to get what I want long term  that is out of my life.....   I probably dont make a lot of sense to you young people  but    thats how old F--ts thinks  remember     IF IT IS WORTH  HAVING IT IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR!!!!!!   not yelling just stressing the  the idea...
another   pcp doctor visit tomorrow  hopefully I have lsot a little more  its just been a week so  who knows and then to the dentist office I have several teeth hurting me     post menapausual is horrid make sure you ladies take your calcium as suggested  then  you wont fall apart    I had  already done the damage before surgery so dot become concerned but if you take the calcuim in younger years  your teeth and bones will  thank you later  I would even suggest getting into the habit now      just get a bottle of Tums like stuff with extra calcium   I get mine from Wally   I get anything any place I can that will save a buck....  ok   I am gone for the evening
   prayers for all
