What is the most amusing thing suggested instead of surgery?

I have had a few family members be a little less than supportive when I told them about trying to get the band.

What is the most amusing thing suggested to you to try first?

Mine was from my aunt. She is very religous, me less so. I brought the band up and she ask about it, but before I was done she asked if I would just try to fast and pray just one day a week before I get it done. Now I almost laughed out loud when she said it. We are the same size. She has not lost wt doing it so why would I? I know her heart was in the right place so I just moved the subject along. She will be supportive in the end, I think.

I believe God helps those that help themselves. I pray just not like she does.

 Crystal   ahhhhh   I write this very cauitously    instead of your aunt  asking you to pray and fast about it so you can loose weight without surgery  maybe she was wanting you to do that to make sure this was the right path for you..  just another way to look at it..
     I dont have any funny stories or weird things   just one sister in law keeps asking how much weight i have lost to the point she has driven over 20 miles and brought one of her friends, that I had never met before , to show me off?????  I think she was more disappointed than I a  that I hadnt lost more than I have..  maybe  it is funny??  now but wasnt then..... willa  

Don't worry to much about me. I like people who say what they think straight out. A slick talker who can put you in the ground without breaking their smile is who I avoid. I am almost unoffendable, and always look at the big picture when something comes up.

I know her heart was in the right place. She loves me and has been like a mother. I just thought there must be other stories of things we are asked to try before surgery that at the time we were floored about, but look back and laugh.

I am not post op yet, but I have a funny story.
Co-worker found out I was on a all liquid diet, doctor supervised.
She asked if  had bm's on the liquid diet.  I did not answer.  She then preceeded to tell me that 10 lbs of my weight loss was not real.  This would be due to all the fecel matter leaving my system. 

What a nut job to bring up that part of weight loss.
