Moving to South WV

We are planning to move to Southern WV next year.  I need some help...  I've never been to WV but have done some research online and WV seems the best bet for me and my family.  I like the average temperatures there in the summer!!!  I work for the Federal Government and want to transfer.  I have a 10 year old son, too.  Where is the best area in Southern WV to live?  Beckley, Charleston, Huntington, Summersville?  We want to live in the country somewhat; buy a house with 2 or 3 acres; does anyone have any suggestions about this area & the school systems?  I also had Lap-Band March of this year & need suggestions for a good bariatric doctor. Thanks in advance for all your help in this matter... Jamie

I LOVE LIVING IN ELKVIEW!!  IT IS COUNTRY BUT, HAS THE CONVENIENCE OF CITY SUCH AS STORES, SCHOOLS AND CHURCHES.

* Our family is a circle of love and strength. With every birth and every union, the circle grows. Every joy shared adds more love. Every obstacle faced together makes the circle stronger. The love of a family is life's greatest blessing.

SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO GET BACK.  ELKVIEW IS ABOUT 10 MINUTES FROM CHARLESTON, WV.  IT IS LOCATED ON INTERSTATE 79, EXIT 9 .  I REALLY LIKE THE LOCATION AND HAVE LIVED IN THE PINCH / ELKVIEW AREA FOR 16 YEARS.  WHEN YOUNGER, I LIVED IN THE HURRICANE AREA AND MOVED TO SOUTH CHARLESTON.   FROM THERE TO PINCH AND THEN ON TO ELKVIEW.

I would highly suggest Huntington    and for the dr   Dr. Neace  is great and his staff is so knowlegdable and friendly..... 2 of them has had WLS  themselves so they know what they are talking about. The schools are good  there are plenty of Wal Marts around teehee   plus close to several malls   churches are plentiful  and it is so  pretty in the Spring and Autumn but taxes are high for city living but since you are looking for rural  it wont be so bad  and there is a federal building here Va Admin and a VA hosp.  so  if you work for any of these groups you would be close to home

Thanks Willa, I'll be on the lookout for jobs in the Huntington area.  What are some rural area towns that you would recommend to look into?   Thanks for Dr. Neace's name; I'll look him and practice up and check him out.. Thanks, Jamie

Hi    I actually would look into buying or renting in Oh   that is just across the river from Huntington    and the cities are south Point,  Chesapeake and Proctorville   all has rural areas that are nice  and low taxes   I personally think South Point is the best schools   but I know in my heart that the Chesapeake school system has alot more for the kids  both in class and out there are alsways some thing going on at those schools.   Hope to see you at one of the support group meetings   they are the first Mondays of every month at 6 pm and they are usually very inform....al  and fun  In July we are having what they call a second chance prom  and if it is anything like the Christmas party it will be super great. hope this helps  some what   willa

Hi Jamie, I too highly recommend Dr. Nease. Staff is fabulous. Another great place to look is the Milton or Hurricane area in West Virginia. Hurricane is right in the middle between Charleston and Huntington.  I personally live in Nitro a small town which I love but it isn't country territory. Temperatures are fabulous in this area. I hate snow, we just get enough to enjoy and then go away. I don't like to be hot and miserable, can set out on my porch in the evenings....gotta love that. Take care, Melinda
