Ok, I have started this journey with a surgeon by the name of dr. kumar, and from our consult, and knowing all i had to choose from was an open rny, I have found that I am leaning more towards the ds instead, so I called Dr. Kumar's office and asked what they thought, and they thought it would be best for me to see Dr. Chua, for the surgery, So I called and they have told me I need to go to the seminar first and then consult with him and find I need to do the dietician, and the psyc eval, the only problem I have is that I already seen the dietician, had my gallbladder ultrasound, and I have a eval date set up, but by talking to the gal on the phonefor the seminar, she think's I will have to see all his dr.'s for this, so I am actually at step 1 all over again, I chose to do the DS rather than the rny due to my diabeties and the sucess rate for that, also for the fact I have arthritis, and I will need to take nsaids for that.. I have united healthcare through badger care plus, and i am hoping I can get approved for this, if there is anyone out there who has had this surgery here in wi. and with badger care ins. please let me know..does anyone know here who has had the ds surgery with dr. chua? And also does anyone really know how fast the process is of getting appointments and seeing the dr.'s for the dietician or the eval, how long did anyone have to wait..? I just am rambleing on .. any info would be appreciated.. thank's a bunch..

Hey Kimberly,
Don't feel bad that you don't have anything to donate. You donated them to goodwill and that is great. Last one they had I didn't have any to donate either because I just gave away to a sister in law. They said that it was fine as long it was donated to someone. We are still able to participate and they want us to take things home with us. This time we can't leave it there with them as they don't have no need for clothes at this time. So what we don't get rid of has to come home with us. I have 7 bags of clothes and not sure if I can carry them all in. Let alone bring them all back home. What I dont' get rid of I will donate to someone.
So come anyways and hopefully there will be something that you can take home with you. Last time I found 1 top that was to small for me at that time. I figure it would fit by christmas and it still had a price tag on it. It was red so it was just right for xmas. It fit by the end of October :)
I just donated a few of my winter jackets to our family as well. I had to go out and by a new one and got it 40 % off.
Hope to see you there.
Robin

I love the clothing exchange idea!! That's awesome!
I'm hoping I'll have some to exchange in the not too distant future. I noticed on Sunday that one of my t-shirts didn't feel quite so snug around my hips. That was kind of a nice feeling. :)

Just a friendly reminder that there is a wls support meeting from 6 to 8 pm. Also there is a clothing exchange as well that night as well. It is held across the street from Aurora Sinai hospital in the Aurora heart institute. Take elevator to the basement floor. Hope to see new faces there this week.
take care,

I've taken a month off, mainly because I can, but I have to do a lot of getting up-and-down in my job, and reaching up for instruments. My work days are also long and mentally as well as physically demanding. I could have probably done it at 2 and a half to 3 weeks, but I'd rather take the month and come back well past the pureed-diet stage.
However, it depends on you, your type of job, and how your surgery goes. If it ends up being an open procedure or your job is very physically demanding, obviously you'll need to take more time off.
US Employers are required to give you up to 12 weeks of leave per the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), so they can't tell you that you must come back any sooner than you need.
