Topic: today as my first day back to ballys after 5 weeks at home
Today was my first day back to Ballys after being at home for 5 weeks due to I had a total abdominal hysterectomy. Felt great to be back. I go to the one in Cudahy, Wisconsin!
I did 65 minutes on the elipitical burn 730 calories and did 5.2 miles then I hop on the treadmill and did 18 minutes and burn 100 calories. Then went to pick n save and got me some rotarsaire chicken. So now I made a salad with iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, shredded carrots and the rotarsaire chicken deskin of course and no dressing. And then cut up an applewith peanut butter and couple grapes on the side. Not sure how much of it I will eat but its a healthy dinner for me tonight. Getting my protein in that is for sure. Also pick up some protein crunch bars from bally's today in triple chocolate and cookies and cream. Now I am set on the bars I just ran out. Been doing my Eas protein shakes as well.
Thanks for inviting me to the group! It feels great to get back to exercise again. I just start some at home but was tired of the plateau ranging from 171 to 173. I need the scale to move again. Its been over 3 weeks at this range and had enough. I had my surgery on July 28, 2009 and hope to be at goal by then or before then. I want to become a fit and healthy person. And then maintain my weight and not gain it back. I use to weigh 317.5 lbs and never want to see that again. I know exercise is the key to success as well as what we put in our mouth.

It seems like the prep work for band and RnY is the same or very similar.

Hi there. I was just wondering what all you have to go through to get the surgery. I know you have to go through a lot to get the major surgery, but you do you have to go through all the same things for the lap band?

LOL -- that is a loaded question. I origionally chose to go with UW bariatrics -- Dr. Gould and Dr. Garren because that is who my insurance covered. Now my insurance has switched and I am fighting like a mad woman to still have my surgery at UW. HOWEVER, I am actually attending the Surgical Seminar tonight at Dean/St. Marys -- so if my final appeal for UW is denied I can go to Dean. So far, they both seem like wonderful programs however, Dean seems to have a quicker response time to phone call, questions, etc.
Good Luck!

I have UMR. Bariatric surgery became a possible benefit 1/2009. I watched several of my co-workers get approved and have the surgery before I decided to try & get approved. I had to pick a surgeon that was in network. I started the process late Dec of 2009. I wish the best for you.

I see that you're in Portage, and I live in the Madison area. Which doctor are you going to? How did you pick your doctor?
Any advice you can offer would be helpful. Thanks!

Good for you!!!!!
What kind of insurance do you have? We have been battling with our current insurance company for almost a year now, and are on our second appeal, but things aren't looking promising.

Received call from the nurse this morning, insurance approved my surgery. Looking at April 19 or 20th. Wanted to wait until after Easter (less questions to answer) and have to do the 10 - 14 day high protein liquid diet. I AM SO EXCITED & nervous at the same time. I had to share.
