If anyone is looking for a simple "organized" event to participate in next month (and April events are scarce) in Milwaukee, I am registered for this one. There is a 2 mile walk as well as a 5K. Preregistration is only $15 (deductible) whi*****ludes a t shirt, breakfast and lunch. I do one event a month to keep me exercising regularly.

My insurance company approved the pre-authorization for me yesterday!! I'm so excited! Just need to wait for MBS to get the letter to schedule the surgery. Now I need to decide if I want it as soon as they give me a date or wait until I graduate in May from college. Guess I'll have to wait and see what date they schedule out to.
Doing a happy happy dance of joy!! It feels like I've been waiting FOREVER for this! :)

Topic: Aurora-Sinai ROCKS
Just had my surgery last week with Dr. Chua at Milwaukee's Aurora-Sinai Hospital and I can't say enough wonderful things about my stay.
I had some non=surgical related complications and ended up staying from Wed-Sun. The staff was all so unbelievably friendly, courteous, helpful, willing to listen, you name it. I can't recommend them high enough.
For those who are looking into WLS, specifically I had the VSG, do yourself a huge favor and look into Dr. Chua and his staff. This journey has seemed like a walk in the park rather than a walk through Death Valley.
My only suggestion would be to bring your own protein shakes because the stuff the hospital provides is nasty. Even with the addition of the fruity flavored crystal light to help balance it out, it was nasty. Bring your own shakes and you'll ROCK too!

I have been looking for a good support group north of Milwaukee and I can't find. If you do move to Cedarburg, we could start one!!
Topic: RE: Looking for a Support Group to attend - live in West Bend area
Hi Cindy
Although Dr. Chua did not do my surgery, my gastroenterologist sent me to Deanna his dietitian. she is really good. The Sinai support group is on March 16th and they are having a phycotherapist to discuss support and relationships. It really isn't that bad a drive from West Bend to Milwaukee. Another option is the diabetic support group at Community Memorial Hospital. We eat like diabetics anyways and the topics are similar to bariatric support groups. good luck to you. Just me
