Looking at all of the few messages. Happy May day.
I have been approved for my Umbilical Repair and Panni Removal on June 6th; so excited.

God bless Dr. Garren and Dr. Siebert.

I think people forget Wisconsin has it's own page. Admittedly, I'm a lurker and not a regular post checker.  ;-)

Topic: Dr. consult on Tuesday Woot!
So I get to meet Dr. Selwyn on Tuesday (5/3/11). I have my list of 1,001 questions ready (i think) and it looks like I will also be seeing him to have a hemmerhoid removal between now and surgery. I am NOT excited about that one as I hear it can be very painful after. But I suppose it's WAY better than the alternative. I suppose having him do the hemmerhoid removal as well is one way to find out what kind of surgeon he is?

Topic: Heya from Stevens Point
I'm new to the boards and new to the idea of wls. Doing lots of research on the available procedures out there as my doc has recommended that I look into it as an option. Right now i am leaning toward DS as it seems to be the one with the least complications (if the stats are right), the least "maintenance" as far as having to go back to the doc to have fills and adjustements or some of the other problems I read about with some of the other types of surgeries.
Anywho.... I am in Stevens Point so will probably go with Dr. Selwyn since he's just across the street :). And I have read good things about him. If anyone is in the Point/Plover/Whiting/Amherst etc area give a shout and lets talk procedures and such :D

Great, thanks! That helps me A LOT...Dr E said he wants me to stop my iron after surgery but Im taking it now because I was low. He also said B12 now is fine, but not after. My biggets concern is A and D because I am being told we need 100,000 iu daily and that seems really high, but then again the vets know best right? I will just wait and see what my labs say. ugh 9 more day! ready to go!
Oh yea and he also said he doesnt want me taking any calcium???? did he say that to you pre-op? That confused me.

According to my labs, I don't need to supplement iron or any B vites yet. That is pretty rare for a DS'er, but I have a feeling I will have to add it in at some point. I'm no vitamin expert, that's for sure, so if you have any other vitamin questions, don't hesitate to ask the DS forum. They sure do know their stuff.

Some of the best advice given to me on the DS forum was to just smile and nod when it comes to vitamin information from the surgeon's office and Nutritionist and to listen to the vets on this site. Sad to say, but it's true.
