Congrats on making this decision to improve your health.  It's an awesome journey, definately a marathon not a spring.  Welcome to this forum.  It's a pretty quiet one, you may find more input from the other various forums.  But stick around here too....it's a great place to find people from your own state!

Educating yourself by reading as much information about all the different types of surgeries available is probably the best thing you can do.  Here on OH they have different forums for all types, and so much information available.  It's a great site.

As far as insurance companies go, you can call your provider and ask them specifically what things they are looking for to make for a successful approval.

Do you know which type of surgery you are interested in?  If you have questions feel free to message me and I will try to help you with whatever information I can.

Best wishes.

Topic: Info for newbie
Hello everyone from Wisconsin. I am trying to get informtion and learn more about options and what to expect both from the bariatric teams/doctors, the surgery itself and afterwards. I just started the process with UW Health Bariatric Clinic in Madison WI. I just sent back the paperwork and am waiting on a response from them, wondering if anyone has any experience with UW health and how long the process is before a date for surgery is set.  Is there anything you can do to make the process go more smoothly?

Topic: LGBT forum invitation
Hello,
I just wanted to let people know   there is a forum for the community and anyone who is friendly and want to stop by. I was very active 3 years ago and would like to see it become active again.   It is listed under  "weight loss related"

I am not attempting to offend anyone. I understand that some might not agree with me posting. I am doing it to help LGBT people. Everyone has the right to not agree. I respect that.

                                                             Thank You !

Good for you on the 3 miles a day! I'm working on it....with the surgery last week (and feeling yucky prior) I've had 6 weeks of lazy in which I can tell I've lost tone in my legs, butt and arms.  Starting Monday, back on the elliptical. I hate the cold so walking outside isn't on my list of priorities this time of the year.    But in the summer walking/biking are awesome!

May I ask, where in MI are you?  Husband was from the Niles/St. Joe area in the LP and my favorite place in the world is Copper Island area in the UP.  We are just about middle of nowhere in WI, equidistant from Green Bay/Appleton, Madison, and Stevens Point....small town of Wautoma.  Altho I do spend a lot of time now in Manitowoc area as my middle son just moved there for his job.  Just spent the past 2 days here helping him find an apartment.

Happy New Year!

Congrats on your success!  Don't know if I will ever get up the nerve to do plastics after seeing some of the photos people have posted on OH, but even if I'm floppy it's way better than being fluffy!  LOL

I still have 60lbs to lose, so I won't worry about that until I get closer to goal.

I hope you have had a great holiday season.  I had bladder resuspension surgery on 12.21.11 so I have a few more weeks of 'vacation'.....I sure am enjoying the time off.  Hoping next week to really start working out again.....I've lost too much muscle mass due to the 6 weeks or so that I hadn't been feeling well/restricted weight lifting.  So onto the eliptical I shall leap next week.....this weekend is couch potato time!  YAY!!  My jobs are somewhat physical, so I better get my butt in gear soon tho!

Seems like we must all go through this transformation stuff. Hair and nails are fun. I have only done my nails a few times since it doesn't last due to my jobs.

2011 was for 'outside' transformation for me....2012 I hope will bring more 'inner' beauty. Working on my attitude may prove to be the most exasperating change, but one which will get me the farthest in life in all aspects.

Best wishes in the journey!
