I am a patient of Dr. Chiang's at the Bariatric Institute of Wisconsin. I am very happy with my doctor and the staff there. I have just completed my pre ops and my records were sent into my insurance company for approval.  They said it shouldn't take too long and then they will schedule my surgery. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

I've never attended one, but I understand that they have different speakers and topics every time. My friend goes almost monthly, and enjoys learning new things about food, exercise, plastic surgery, etc, as well as meeting tons of new people.  Enjoy!

When I went for my informational seminar @ Aurora Sinai in May, they said that the support group meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 6-8 in the Auditorium where we had the info session.  There should be one this Wednesday (the 18th) - I plan on going.

Thanks everyone for helping me out. I am absolutely clueless when it comes to insurance, and you all have made it so much easier to understand.

I'm not from Milwaukee, but I know there are a lot of things to do there. A friend (from MPLS) and I are going down there in July. I did a search on the internet "things to do in Milwaukee" and found a lot of information. If you have kids, they have a nice children's museum, there is an IMAX theatre, The Milwaukee Zoo, The Botanical Gardens, the lake front. Maybe someone from Milwaukee will help you out more. I used to live in Plymouth, MN for 12 years. Have fun at the games, and Go Brewers!!!!

One suggestion I have for anyone considering any weight loss surgery or plastic surgery on BadgerCare is this:  if you have an HMO, read your guidelines carefully.  If you have a choice of providers, compare them carefully.  There may be differences you aren't aware of now that could make a huge difference later. For example: I chose an HMO (Atrium) a while back.  It changed to CompCare.  I figured it was probably similar to Atrium (mistake #1), so I didn't compare it to my other choice, Group Health (mistake #2).  A couple of years went by before I found out accidently I could have been seeing my previous doctor 6 months earlier had I changed (mistake #3).  I have a lot more choices with Group Health than I had with CompCare and I had no idea because I hadn't bothered to check.  I'm not saying it *will* make a difference for you or something will be approved that wouldn't otherwise.  I'm just saying it's worthwhile to take a look. You can change once a year and it take one month for the change to take effect.

If you don't mind me asking, how far did the skin on your upper arm extend?  Whether or not you're able to use the under the arm technique depends on how much skin you have to remove, not necessarily the skill of the surgeon. It *is* great that you found a surgeon who will take the time to answer all of your questions without making you feel rushed.  There aren't a whole lot of doctors who will do that.

Topic: Finding Dr. Armstrong
Dr. Nicholas Armstrong did my surgery 6 years ago in Milwaukee WI.  Does any one know how to contact him?  His office told me he was gone but would not give me contact information.
