Hi, my name is Sylvia and I just had my surgery a week ago.  I am still on a full liquid until next week when I go to my surgeon.  I live between Milwaukee and Madison and would like to hear your experiences with Roux-en-y.

I just had my surgery done with Dr. Chaing on July 9th.  Between the time I started the diet and now, I have lost 24 pounds.

I have water retention issues, degenerative disc disease (whcih makes any other exercise excep****er walking and swimming difficult), sleep apnea, bad knees, etc.  I read your blog and any other doctor except these doctors blame everything on your weight which may or may not be the case.

I wish you good luck--drink the juice while you are on the protein shakes.  I forgot the juice for a couple of days and I was unbelieveably stopped up.

I just had my surgery on July 9th.  I am on the road to recovery.

My surgeon was Dr. Manfred Chaing.  He is very soft spoken but knows what he is doing and does not judge you on your weight (I have battled my weight for many years and have experienced too many doctors who think you are some kind of idiot because you can't control your weight--a very refreshing change).  These are doctors that understand the problems we face.

My approval process went smoothly.  I first went to see Dr. Chaing on January 31st and got approved on June 4th.  The secret was making the appointments the day after I left his ofice because the quicker your tests are done the quicker the approval can be sent in.

My journey found some health issues that I never knew about (low iron, sleep apnea).  They are very thorough and feel if another specialist is necessary they won't hesitate to let you know.  They find thinks your PCP probably would never look for.

I would recommend them highly.

I did, but I don't live in Fond du Lac. I live in Rockford, IL and think the Madison program is beyond belief fabulous! I work in the medical field and this program is surely one of the BEST!

If you want to meet some one near you, ask some of the staff at the program to see if they can connect you with a local person.

I would suggest you talk to UW Madison. They have a fabulous program and a special price if you have to self pay. You couldn't have better docs than Dr. Garren and Dr. Gould. Also the nurse practitioner, Gretchen, is a doll and does the fills perfectly.

If you decide to go out of the country, you may have trouble getting a local doc to do the fills.

Woodman's carries the Fage and Oikos in Rockford. I think they are all stocked the same. These have twice as much protein for the calories as yoplait.

Well for me I am doing pretty well with my pre op diet, I have been having some terrible carb cravings. I do miss my honey and toast in the mornings. So I am almost 2 weeks into the diet and as of today I have lost 11 lbs. Not doing very well with the excercise but I will just have to keep trying, its just hurts so much to walk or ride the excercise bike. Well take care of that sunburn and I hope the rest of your week is great.

7 miles? I'm impressed!!  I'm still walking.... I want to shed another 40 lbs before I add impact cardio to the mix. How long for you to run that???
