Welcome to the board and great that you're supporting your husband. Good Luck to him. Support is everything.
Keep us posted as to where he is in the process.
I'm 9 months post op and have no regrets.

I started with a BMI of 41 and it's now 22. I have never felt better.
I've added 12 years to my life per my health risk assessment screening. What more could I ask for.

Lon has his surgery scheduled, finally.  Aug. 11.  He's having the bypass at Marshfield Clinic.  Dr Wengert will be doing the surgery.  Lon weighs in at 481#, and he's hoping the total weight loss will be 75- 80 %.  This is a realistic goal, and he knows that he has to work at it.  We have such great support through the bariatric team at the Marshfield Clinic, and we're optimistic about the outcome.
Let me know how the Instant Beakfast works for you.

No they didn't put me on a liquid diet because I'm not having the lapband.  So how are you doing? How much have you lose, one of my co-worker had the lapband done b y Dr. Chaing for free, because he was doing some kind of study and today she went to get her band adjusted and she said that now food is harder to get down.  Are you still on liquid or are you eating what you want?

Hi Carmen 1954--

I had my surgery July 9th and go see my surgeon, Dr. Chaing at Bariatric Institute of Wisconsin, tomorrow.

Are you on a liquid diet in order to prep?  Hang in there you will get thru it.  If you keep busy, the time will fly by.

Let me know how you are doing

Topic: LAPBand vs VSG...

I believe I am narrowing down my search.  Really concerned about malabsorption (of food and meds) and think restricition only is the best for me..  Both of these surgeries can be revised, so that makes me feel a little better, although with the VSG, once my stomach is gone, it is gone, but, I can add RNY of DS if I am not losing the weight.  I am concerned, as I mentioned before, that since I will be probably be self-pay, of the complications and maintenance of the LAPBand...also, with the slow weight loss..I may need to do revision anyway, so why not just do the VSG and get going on my new life??  Any thoughts??  I am going to UW for info session next week, although I do not believe they do VSG, but, I feel it couldn't hurt and actually meeting staff will be the next step after researching and trolling boards for what seems like forever!    Thanks for all the info and support.  This newbie really appreciates it!!

hello! It is me again.  Soooo now I am narrowing my choices down to LAPBand or VSG.  Any thoughts???   It appears Dr. Wasco is one of the only surgeons doing VSGs in WI.  Does anyone know of anyone else doing them???  Thanks!!!

Lon's RD gave us some samples that may work for oy.  Carnation instant breakfas complete oprotein drink, sugar free.It has 2x the protein of  an egg and calcium of yogurt..  This is easy to find and inexpensive. You can get Unjury as well.email Nutrition @Unjury.com or www.UNJURY.com.  There's also beneprotien, but it's hard to find.  Walgreen's will special order for you.  All of these need to be added to liquid.  You may be able to find the already prepared Instant Breakfast.  Good luck.  Lonswife
