Topic: Has anyone here gone to Dr. David L Larson for Plastics?
Hi, I have an appt. with Dr. Larson on Tuesday, and I was wondering if anyone has had and work done with him.  I can't seem to find any before and after pictures from him.  I just wanted to see if anyone could give me anymore info on him before I go.  Thanks, Alicia

What is the lask RNY and how does it differ from the gastric bypass? I thought the gastric bypass you lose more weight and the lap band is slower going with weight loss and also can cheat on the lap band. Or I am reading wrong on the boards. I am confused.

Happy new year!

I think I just found it! Dr. Engstrand does the lap DS, and I found where Medicare covered it!

I did find stuff on Dr. Thomas Chua in Milwaukee. I am very impressed with his knowledge. I guess I just need to schedule a couple meetings and go!.

Yeah, the DS seems like the best one for me, too. I am still not sure how many DS surgeries that my surgeon has done, I can never get an exact number from the Bariatric Institute. The only way my insurance will pay for my surgery is if I go with this place, so I guess we will see! I only have one more month of supervised diet and then hopefully i will be approved.

There is another dr  named Thomas Chua in Milwaukee who does the DS. If you are willing to travel to Chicago, there are doctors Prachand or Alverdy, who are listed on dsfacts.com, a very good site to visit!

I would definitely do some more research and go to an infomational meeting in the mean time.

Good luck to you!
Jules

I'm not trying to jump in and I don't know about insurance coverage.  I am pursuing a ds through Rochester MN.  Not sure if that is out of travel range for you or not.  I happen to work in the Mayo health system in Eau Claire. That's how I ended up there.  Hoping for a date soon.  Good luck to you.
