Hi Robin,
I say follow whatever feels comfortable to you, but if you intend to have baraitric surgery, all soda and carbonated beverages have to go.  They are empty foods that actually increase your appetite.  Although I don't agree with the taking of pills, since I've tried nearly everything out there and had no lasting results, you need to do what you feel is right.  The basics are always the same:  to lose weight, calories in must be less than calories out, Everything in moderation,  and tons of other cliches.  If you pursue bariatric surgery, the nutritionist will tell you things other than what this person tells you, but that's because the nutritionist is preparing you for a lifetime of healthy eating with a surgical procedure as a tool.  Your success for life is Dr. Chua's goal.  Good luck! Lois

Hi Becky,

Yes, he does that surgery as well. Not as many as he does RNY and bands, but he does the DS as well as a couple others.

I had a BIG steak at prime quarter and an awesome desert. Stuff I still can eat now. Don't worry your eating days are not over. You just have alot of left overs.

That reminds me, I should indulge in an adult beverage or two soon!

When I was talking about this with my hubby, I listed at least five places! Red Robin, New Star, Melting Pot, and Giordano's (or Uno's) Pizza. It's a good thing I'm done with my pre-op diet! I'm just waiting on insurance approval.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Yum! I love mashed potatoes! With lots of butter, a little salt and pepper.  We're never gonna eat like this again, so I'd go to both! I've never been to either of those places, but they sound good. Sorry to bring up a bad subject!

Take care!

I think I had about a week of "last suppers", including the chinese buffet, Olive Garden, a local Mexican joint with FABULOUS margarita's, a wonderful steak supper club, and, of course, Dairy Queen to boot!  Still haven't been back to Dairy Queen!
