Topic: RE: Anyone Have Surgery at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital?
Jules,

I had my surgery at Elmbrook in January. The hospital was very clean. The staff was nice and attentive, even the staff that wasn't assigned to me. I had a private room that was quiet, but kept my door closed at night because I need complete darkness to be able to sleep. I would not bring anything valuable to the hospital, even if my family owned to hospital. Good luck with your surgery and your new life.

Topic: RE: I have appointment tomorrow to see the dietician
Congratulation Robin on your decision to change your life. Don't get discourage if you have to see the psychologist and / or the dietitian more than once. I had to see the dietitian 3 or 4 times before i was cleared to move to the next step which was the insurance approval.

Hi Robin..
Congratulations on your start to a new life. Dr. Chua and his team are wonderful. You'll be pleased with them. I had my surgery 18 months ago and have never regret it.
I also work at Sinai  and loved being a patient here as much as I love working here. It's the diamond in the ruff as far as hospitals go. Keep us updated on your progress and feel free to write anytime with any questions you may have.

Topic: Anyone Have Surgery at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital?
I will be having my surgery at Elmbrook on Tuesday and was wondering if anyone could honestly tell me how they liked it?

Were the nurses friendly? Did you get a private room? Was the hospital quiet? Is it a good idea to bring a laptop and/or ipod?

How was your overall experience?

I have read the reviews here on OH, just looking for a little more personal experiences! Thanks in advance for your input!

, Jules

I never had the PT/OT. You'll see the dietician and psych a couple times. Every week, they all sit down with Dr. Chua and discuss upcoming patients. They discuss the readiness of each person, which surgery is recommended, and a ton of other variables. Then, when all agree that you are ready and fully understand what you are taknig on, you'll have your next appointment with Dr. Chua. After that, the insurance game begins. That can take up to 30 days for approval as well. It's a trying process, but stay strong and look to your new future for support !

Topic: RE: Support in the Green Bay/Shawano Area
Thank you for the replies.

I go to Total Fitness and see a personal trainer there weekly. After talking to her about the gastric bypass, she said she has a few other people that come there that have had the surgery. She has decided to meet with Dr. Johnson and Dr. Kimmerling in Green Bay and then starting up her own support group in Shawano. So if there is anyone out there who is interested, please contact Debbie at Total Fitness.
