Thanks... We Cheese Heads have to stick together!
I am usually a pretty motivated upbeat person. Today... not so much.
I just got back from the treadmill taking me for a walk. At least I went.
Looking forward to sharing the experience with all of you. Getting and giving support!
Blessings!

Congrats! The gas pain was the worst part of the surgery for me! On the plus side, it made me walk, walk, walk! Enjoy the sunshine the next couple of days and head outside for a relaxing walk. How are things going now?
Topic: Has anyone fought Medicaid insurance denial
Hi Everyone, I am on a 2 year battle with medicaid for approval for GBS. I keep getting denied as "Not medically necessary" I am now waiting for a date for my 2nd appeal with the judge.( I had 4 previous denials, then it goes to the judge.) If you check out my blog you will see that I more than qualify for it. If I had any other insurance I would not be having these issues. In fact I think my BMI of 60 would alone qualify me. They keep saying that my meds are controlling my co-morbs so therefore I do not need surgery. It does not seem to matter that I have elevated liver levels because of them or that I am gaining about 20 pounds a year from the meds. I actually should have stonger meds, but I can't risk increasing my weight even more. I have high BP, high Cholestrol, Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, severe joint issues, and I have provided letters from 5 different Doctors and Surgeons stating that this is medically necessary/ and or in my best interest to have GBS. It all seems to mean nothing. They keep delaying me, they ask for this and that, and then it takes 3 months to get it, and then all they do is send me the standard denial form. I do not know what to do. Has any one actually fought the state and won? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My heath is rapidly decling as they keep jerking me around.

Thanks, I will look into him. My GYN had me start taking ferrus glucomate (iron) and I am already starting to feel better. He said the ferrus sulfate I was taking is a harder to digest iron plus the salts were what was causing the metallic taste. I am also taking it with orange juice which they said the vitamin C helps. And of course no calicum around the time I take it.

Tania!
I see Dr. Matthew Johnson. He is through prevea and is located at the St. Mary's hospital site. He is wonderful surgeon and follows up with his patients for 5 years after their surgery. You can call 496-4700 and ask for his office. Good Luck.

I'm not sure which doctor you are seeing, but I know our doctor (mine and Shari's) will make sure you can schedule multiple appointments with dietician and psychologist on the same day so that you aren't running back and forth all the time. They helped me out a great deal with this because I live over an hour away. The medic transport is a great option. Check into it and good luck!

Congrats. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Just don't push yourself to hard. Slow walks and plenty of sips are the key. I thought the gas was never going to go away but it did. Best of luck to you on your journey.

Topic: looking for a good post op doctor- Green Bay Area
I moved to WI about 18 months ago. I had lap RNY in Nov. 2006. I have lost about 140 pounds and have kept it off.
I am looking for a doctor in the Green Bay area who understands the post op patient. I have seen a general practice and had my annual physical which shows my blood is all out of wack. I am severely anemic now. I think it has to do with not getting enough B-12 (I use injections). My surgeon had me taking it every 2 weeks...this doc seemed to think it wasn't necessary because my B-12 blood levels were normal (?)... I had taken a shot 3 days prior, and normal for normal and normal for post op are different. He prescribed me to take iron supplements (81 mgs a day). Now when I do take a B-12 shot I am sick for 2 days (iron toxicity?). I had to quit taking so much because I had a constant metallic taste. The doctor seems to think the anemia is related to my female cycles but I think it is due to lack of absorption. I have been having problems with not having energy along with problems with thinking and concentration. It is like I have become ADD at 35 years old. I am a mother of 3 and a full time student so I can't sit and stare at a wall all day. I can't seem to get this doc to understand this, he's old so we will give him the benefit of that... I just want to find a doc that can help me get myself back in order. I know my problems are related to nutrient deficiencies, but I am not sure what I need to do to get things right again...
