GBS is Gastric Bypass Surgery.  I was told by my surgeons office that it seems to them that title 19 seemes to have better luck with getting approvals. Good luck.

Thanks for the compliment.
To answer your questions....

What has been the best and worse of the year?

The first few months are CRAZY!  Just be prepared for it - expect the worst and deal with it as it comes - I had a rough first 4 months - but, I had my gallbladder out at the same time, and things didn't go perfectly as planned.  At the beginning, you are still healing and you can be miserable at times, wondering WTF did I do... people would ask me - do you wish you never did the surgery?  My answer - I can't give you an answer to that question until I am at least 6 months out - you can ask me then.  My answer today - I would have the surgery again tomorrow even knowing all the things I would have to go through.  It is absolutely the best thing I have ever done for myself.  I am healthy, happy and have never felt better!

Stalls - they happen - sometimes they last 1 week, sometimes 3 months!  :o)

Hormones go nuts - just be prepared for that and if you are married or have a significant other... warn them... LOL!!   :o)

There are so many little things that I can do now - crossing legs, fitting in booths, no extenders, walking miles and miles without causing blisters, fire crotch or anything else!  LOL!  I'm wearing a size 6 with the occasional size 4.  It's amazing!

My asthma, gerd, acid reflux, hiatal hernia, joint pain, headaches, blood pressure - all gone!  LOVE THAT!

What is your #1 tip?

Follow your doctors protocol, take all your vitamins, drink lots of water, keep a food record and exercise - it is really important to develop good habits early on so you don't go back to where you began.

What has been your biggest surprise?

That I actually lost 115 lbs!  I NEVER thought I'd lose that much - ever!  That and just the feeling of feeling healthy - sounds weird, but I had been unhealthy for so long, I can't get over what it's like to just feel good!

Good luck!

Do you have a lawyer helping you through this process? I was denied the first time,  went before the judge to plead my case. He still denied me and I appealed that decission.  In the process of them finally looking at the paperwork they were sent the second time, I obtained  a lawer. I also kept getting the "not medically necessary" letters. I didn't even need  for him (lawyer) to do anything for me. I think it was the signed peice of paper saying that I had obtained a laywer and I wasn't going to quit trying for this procedure. DO NOT GIVE UP!!!
JudiCare is a state run program for low income people who can not afford legal representation. If this is the case please call them ASAP and ask them for help. Good luck to you and I'll say some prayers in hopes that this all will work out for you. I again repeat DO NOT GIVE UP!!! My surgery was May 12 and I feel better already, and you will too.
Another thing that I did when I was fighting these appeales was I called them 2 or 3 days after I mailed them something to make sure that they had received it in the mail. 9 times out of 10 they told me they recieved it and told me the next thing they needed. It usually was in the mail BEFORE I recieved the letter from them telling me what they needed. It spead the process up and I think it made them sick and tired of hearing from me. Good luck.

What is a GBS? I have title 19 hmo of united health care(badger care),I am still in pre surgery. I have one month left of the 6 months required then goes to surgeon then to insurance. i hope I don't have that trouble. Could it be the procedure that they don't want to cover? Do they cover the rny? That is crazy that you can't get this. ugh. Wish you alot of luck.
