Topic: Weight Gain of 40 lbs.

Hello guys.  I am looking for some serious advice please.  Although well wishes and prayers are GREATLY appreciated, I need some practicals to helpme. My surgery was June 2005.  I lost 160 lbs. In May of 2008, I broke my right foot. Now I used to walk vigorously 3-6 times a week every week. I also was going to an aerobics class.  All came to an abrupt halt with the foot deal.  I have since gained 40 lbs back.  I have begun the snacking, I can eat M&Ms all day, sugar does not bother me.  I am also in pain most of the time and I walk with a cane.  I am so frustrated about the scale.  I know when I hit 250 again, I was discouraged.  Then I hit 260 and 250 didnt seem so bad. Then I hit 270.  Then 280.  I am alarmed.  I have aggressively taken notice and am back down to 274.  ( My starting weight was 403 and my lowest was 241 lbs.) Please help me if you have been through this and have CONQUERED it and lost the excess weight  I have begun seeing a psychologist to deal with issues in my life that are unresolved, but I need to stop eating junk.  I also work 2 jobs and don't always have time to come home. I usually end up driving thru somewhere on my way to job 2.  Please advise me if you can.  I love you all, but please reply if you have been through what I am going through.  THanks@@@@@

Actually, not as scary as it sounds.  My son teaches at a University there.  I am going anyway for his wedding.  I have been to Korea many times and feel very comfortable in the country.  The care is excellent - only in the U.S. do they rush you out of the hospital before you are ready.  My surgeon is internationally known as well as being published in U.S. medical journals.  He trained at Cleveland Clinic and runs a huge Obesity Center.  As far as the 30 days, I am staying in a 4 star hotel and they are giving me a deal and only paying $1000 for the month.  For me, it's an opportunity to walk, to heal, to journal, to be by myself, to come to terms with why I have this food addiction and practice positive coping skills.  I am very spiritual and believe that the reason I am having my surgery in Korea at this time is because I was meant to "be still and be with God".  If I have a complication, I deal with it, pay for it and come home after.  But I'm really, for the most part, very relaxed and confident with my decision.  Plus  I save about 9,0000 (after the hotel).

Do you still have to pay for air fare and hotel/accommidations for 30 days?  What if you have a complication?  Sounds really scary to me!

I'm having a sleeve done in Seoul, Korea (how's that for long distance?  almost 7000 miles) and am paying for hospital 3-5 days, surgeon, and 30 days follow up $8000.  Wondering what it costs for self pay in Wisconsin?

I assume you're ABD. In what? You should put a vita together and send it to Milwaukee Area Tech. College, UWM, Cardinal Stritch, etc.  I'm the adjunct coordinator for my department at Western Tech. College in La Crosse and we are still trying to find adjuncts to cover classes. Not only would a night class or two bring in a bit of income, it would get a foot in the door for your research and/or full time positions.

Topic: Dr. Kothari or Baker? (xpost)
If you live in the greater La Crosse area and are interested in an informal group meeting, let me know. The one-Thursday-a-month group hasn't been working in my schedule and I miss the face-to-face time with other RNYers.

Hi! I also had Dr. Nuttleman do my surgery. I had pretty bad complications though. I ended up with a bowel obstruction and had emergency surgery 3 days after the first surgery. I was in the hospital for 6 days total! Then because of being in the hospital for so long, I ended up with a bad bacterial infection. Had to crush and swallow the most disgusting pills I have ever had for ten days at every meal! The whole time, Dr. Nuttleman and his staff were right there. Dr. Nuttleman was awesome. What was your opinion?
