Topic: Looking for a doctor or clininc
I am currently on the Minnesota Board and have family and friends here in Wisconsin. I am looking for a good clininc or doctor for a friend of mine in South-East Wisconsin. And any support groups or coffee groups in this area. We had alot in the Twin Cities and I sure miss them here while I'm with family in the area.
Thanks for any leads, Jennifer

I had the rny 3 weeks ago. And I am doing well. lost 20 lbs since my surgery. Pre surgery lost 50 so down 70 lbs since January. The rny is a good tool for when you have alot of weight to lose. And if you eat to much you will know it. I ate to fast or didn't chew good enough or my new pouch did not like having chuck roast for dinner. so today was my first experience with vomiting since my surgery. Never had it before until today.

Topic: Hello
I am very new to this...

Here's what I posted on the lapband board...and TBurn007 said I should "shout out" for Lois who has had the RNY surgery.

(I rearanged a little but it makes more sense.. If you already read this there.... sorry and that's the reason for the difference).

I just made decision on 7/31/09 to have the surgery. I am working with a local doctor.  I walked in thinking lapband, but he is recommending RNY.     He gave me my options but I am still having trouble deciding on RNY or lapband. I want lapband because less invasive and therefore less risky, also it offers the option to adjust it.

     I am 5' 9" and currently weigh 370. I have about 170 - 200 to lose.

I want the RNY because ...doctor is recommending it... and I hope to live another 40-50 years and having foreign object in for that long.... Also it will protect me from myself with the sugar issues (dumping) to keep me on tract to start...
Dr. also mentioned that the average person loses less and over a longer period of time with the lapband than with the RNY... Can someone give me their opinion to assist with my choice?...        But...

I also believe I am committed enough not to screw this up.

I have PCOS and am insulin resistant but no heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes yet. I want to fix this before then.

So much to think about. Still have sleep test and stress test, psyc eval, & Nutritionist before we schedule surgery. And a small item of getting insurance to sign off. They said it could be up to 30 days for that alone.

I want to have the safest and most effective one done... but still confused on what that is?
Either way I can't wait until I set a date. Hopefully Oct.

Thanks!

That's awesome!  Either way it will come out with good news!  Either they'll call you soon to schedule your appointment with Dr. Chua to decide on the type of surgery and then submit to insurance (if that's the way you are going). Otherwise, they will come back and want to see you for an appointment or 2 with the psych or nutritionist. That is also a good thing (even though it may seem like jumping through hoops). His team only wants to do surgery on the most ready people, and the ones that will maintain the healthy lifestyle that they teach us.  It's a really good thing!  I'll cross my fingers for you for the first one though!  Take care!

That is so true - I've been trying to get my hubby to buy me a puppy for months now... he wants a big dog, I want a little dog - therein lies the issue - well, that and the fact that I have a cat that would eat a puppy... LOL!!!

We just adopted a puppy from Hope Safehouse in Racine last night--he's a doll, but he's going to be on the bigger side, so we're going to have to get used to walking him daily for our good and his.  No more excuses for me, either! :)

I've also found Wii fit rather amusing.  It's so cheesy, but it's silly fun at the same time.

Thanks!  We just got a puppy last night, so I can't make an excuse not to walk on some days.  Plus, walking will be even more fun with a furry companion.

Thanks!  Actually I wanted 130 as goal and he wanted 160 as goal, so he/we compromised at 145 LOL!!  He's good like that.

I just saw that you were at your doc's goal!!!

Congradulations (I don't know how far behind I am), but I still have to say it!
