Any one out there have T-19 Badgercare United Hmo and get approved? I have this and all I have been hearing is that it is next to impossible to get approved! Dr. Wu's office is sending out paperwork to insurance to get me approved, but I am stressing out thinking it wont happen!!! If any of you have BadgerCare and have gotten approved, please give me some hope! Thanks!

Some insurances will pay to remove the panni or loose skin of the abdomen but not the TT where they tighten the muscles. Take pictures and have documentation placed in your chart. That will help with getting that covered.

If your Ins has it written that they don't cover WLS or any complications from WLS then you are out of luck. If I were you I would call my or look in my Ins book for that info and see if they cover it, if they do then you need to find out what they all require of you.
I did self pay and with a BMI around 41 it cost 21k the cost goes up the higher your bmi. Good luck to you.

The insurance companies all look at these as "cosmetic", so you have to do twice as much to prove them wrong. My advice is to do these things: Tell ALL your doctors when you see them that you have rashes, sores, and odors coming from the skin flap. Tell them it is hard to keep the area clean and dry. Make sure it gets noted (even if you aren't experiencing it at the moment). Take pictures of any sores or redness to send to insurance. They key is document, document, document. My doctor wouldn't do the skin removal until I was stabilized in my weightloss for about a year. I'm glad now that he did because I lost a little more after surgery and now came back to where I should be. Good luck, and keep plugging away and insurance!

Ok i will! Yea im going to see my doc on oct 6th so he can talk to me or recommend to the main people that know about this, so i can get more info! But the thing is last time i checked my insurance didnt cover this type of surgery but the doc's told me if i fight it i would win.

well I would find out what your insurance requires of you to get this one before you drop it. you could get it done if its not to many requirments. I started my process in may and I just got approved..I should be having sugery with in the next few weeks.

Topic: might have a problem with insurance
First of all i have a doc appointment Oct 6th to talk to my doctor about have surgery. About 5 year ago my doctor at the time wanted me to have it, but my dad's insurance didnt cover it and for some reason my dad didnt want to fight it so now at 23 im going back to talk to the doctor.
But the problem i might have is, i recently lose my job but i still have insurance thru my old job for about 6 more months or so and i highly doubt i will have surgery in that time frame so my question is does anyone know what i should do??? Should i drop this insurance and see if i can get Badger Care? or do you think the doctors would know anything about this??
If anyone could help that would be awesome!
Thanks
Sean
