swollen ankels

my name is Shema I had my surgery Feb 28th, 2006. I have edem which is fluid that is in my ankels causing my right foot to swell. My intern doctor told my that it will never go away just because I had the bypass surgery. Is there any one that can tell me if this is true or not, that has lost their weight, does your ankel continue to be a little swollen????? :help:
