New to Madison

Hi Everyone; I have been reserching WLS for a few years now and I am finally in a place where I will be getting insurance in 2 months that cover's it. I am new to Madison and I need a primary care physician and I need to know who you all recommend for WLS here. I am putting all my prep into play now, joined WW, (2000's time)....joined a gym, documenting everything, my BMI is 41.6...I have RLS, Sleep Apnea, high cholestrol, joint pain and IBS.....so I don't think approval will be an issue...I just want the right doctor's...ones who support the surgery....any suggestions???? Welcome Kim - I live near Delavan and I had my gastric bypass Dr Berkowitz at Barix in Belvidere Ill -- but he's retired and i have friends who have had the other surgeons there - I HIGHLY recommend Barix - they are so gentle and caring and many staff members have had the surgery! Let me know if you need a number to call for information and I'd gladly give it to you - I don't know any PCP in your area cuz I'm not familiar with Madison I also had my first reconstruction by Dr James McAdoo at Barix. Hi Kim, the bariatric clinic at Columbia-St. Mary's hospital in Milwaukee is great. Dr. Siverhus is so nice and has a great sense of humor too. If I hear of anyone in the Madison area I will let you know. Good Luck, Pattie

Hi Kim. Welcome to Madison. I had WLS on 3/1/06. My PCP was behind me all the way. Her name is Dr. Juanita Halls and I would highly recommend her. My surgeon is Dr. Jon Gould at the University of Wisconsin Bariatric Clinic. The place is fabulous and has a great support staff.

Thank You so much...I want to be sure that my doctor is working with me not against me and I am hearing wonderful things about Dr. Gould...I am going to set up an appointment with Dr. Halls and get things started...Thanks for you information.... KIM

Kim, Dr. GOuld and Dr. Garren who work together thru UW are AMAZING and AWESOME as are the rest of the staff and the hospital!! I would highly recommend them. Becki 1-18-05 297/119 5'8"
