My son is 5'6" weighs 425. He was working on loosing weight when he started having severe back pain. He found out he has two bulging discs in his back. His wife got his x-rays and sent them to an othopedist who told him he wouldn't help him. Does anyone know of a compassionate physician who is not prejudiced. He needs an orthopedist in the Chicagoland area. He lives in Zion, Illinois which is about 50 miles north of downtown Chicago and 30 south of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is in considerable pain. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kahle .. orthopedic surgeon from the Dean Clinic - West in Madison wisconsin. It is about an hour and half from Milwaukee. Dr. Kahle just did my dh's back surgery. He would most likely refer your son to have gastric bypass before doing anything w/his back. this is what he did w/my dh. I love him to pieces. He just did my dh's 2nd surgery and in less than 24 hrs my husband was doing MUCH better than he was prior. The Dean Bariatric team in Madison is great. Or least I think so. I reccom. Dr. Carl Sunby from the East Clinic (which is about 30 min. closer to Milwaukee). He is a surgeon who does RNY and Lap Banding. Good Luck, Gala

Hi Jill, I highly recommend Dr. Mayer at Green Leaf Orthopedic Clinic in Gurnee, Illinois which is right outside of Zion. I have had personal experience with this doctor and he is not only compassionate but highly skilled.
