Hi everyone, My name is Deb, and I have been scheduled for surgery (lap RNY) on August 16. This has all gone very quickly. I've been thinking about the surgery for a long time, but since making the decision to move forward to see whether I would be approved, it's only been about a month (I'm self pay because insurance will not cover it. Anyway, very excited, and just a little nervous. It's major surgery and a major lifestyle change after all, but I am so ready to do it! I do have a question though. Because this has all happened so fast, I haven't had much time to try protein drinks; however, I did sample the Amplify (part of the "Release" line of products) at GNC yesterday, and it was pretty good. Anyone else using it or have used it before? How is it long term? Other suggestions I've gotten are Shaklee soy protein to mix into sugar-free fruit-flavored drinks, and a local product here in Madison called "Show Me the Whey," available at a local co-op. Any other suggestions for brands, flavors, etc. would be great, as well as places to get samples before purchasing. Thanks all!

Unjury is very tasty, there is a website for that...just do a search. Otherwise, I just use either Walmarts or GNC's Designers whey protein. At GNC they have unflavored so you can mix it in anything....it is good...no funny after taste or texture. The one at Walmart is good for a flavored one...I have the vanilla and it is good in my smoothies....that brand is "Premium Whey Protein" Powder. I get that one for about $9...for 32 servings. The one from GNC is about $25 and I cant remember how many servings. Congrats on the approval of surgery! I am glad I had it done. I am post op now over a year....And I would do it all over again. It is amazing how my life has changed. Another suggestion, start now with extra protein...it will help with healing processes. Another thing is the Carnation Instant Breakfast...make sure you find sugar free though...I have a hard time finding the sugar free vanilla one...I am in central Wisconsin...Hope some of this helps you...take care and good luck. Lora Lap RNY 5-26-04 beyond goal!

Hello Fellow Madisonite... Who is your surgeon? Mine was Sunby/Huepenbecker with Dean/St.Mary's. The Low Carb store on the west side near Menards has a great selection of protein powders. They carry the unjury in containers and in sample packets. They also have other poweders there. Gala
