OT ~~ Apple River

Hey there Wisconsin neighbors. We're thinking of coming up your way to tube the apple river. Any suggestions would be welcome. We aren't campers so would be looking for a good motel. This would be for me and my s/o and 10 y/o son. I see most of the websites discourage kids from tubing on the weekends. Is it really that rowdy!!! Thanks -- any suggestions are welcome. Janie

The police have tried to monitor more but yes, I would not take a child on there anytime. Lots of nudity, drunkeness, druggies and all around very very rowdy! (and the river is dirty) If you would travel a little farther, the Yellow river just outside of Spooner WI is a very very clean clear river and very family oriented. There are a couple of newer hotels in the Spooner area and in Hayward. In Hayward there is the Fishing Hall of fame which is great for everyone...you go up into the big muskie's mouth! There is also a place called Wilderness Walk that my boys loved when they were young. Also in Hayward is the Namekagon river. They tube down that too. It is also very clean and family oriented.
