High-Risk Health Insurance?

Has anyone has experience trying to get WLS paid for through the HERSP (I'm pretty sure I'm misspelling that) high-risk health insurance through the state? If so, how did it go? ~Lauren

Hello Lauren... I have HIRSP insurance and had Lap-RNY in September of 2004. It was a bit of jumping through hoops, but I succeeded in having HIRSP cover all but $3500 of the cost. It was SO worth the wait and everything I had to do. I'm living proof that it is doable! BTW, their current policy is that they don't cover Lap-Band because it's "experimental". But who knows, perhaps if there was a legitimate and consistent challenge to the policy, they might change?... Take care... Christine RNY 9-10-04 113 pounds gone for the better!
