I was just giving the names of two doctors that were approved to perform WLS in my insurance plan. The first docotr is Craig Siverhus and the other is Nicholas Armstrong. Does anyone have any information that they can share with me about either of them? I would like to set-up appointments as soon as possible. I have battled with this decision to have surgery for over 5 years. I am ready now and I am in a hurry. HELP!

Yolanda, Have you a problem of going out of the Sheboygan area? If you don't have an issue with that, Dr. Chua in Milwaukee is the best of the best. I know 3 people now that have had the surgery with him and they all love him. If you can, you should read some of his patient comments. I hope this helps you... Dennis

Hi Dennis, I have heard good things about Dr. Chua too but I am not allowed to go out of net work with my insurance. I wish that I could because Dr. Chua was the doctor that my pcp wanted me to see. Thanks anyway.

Yolanda, My name is Michele. I live over here in Plymouth. I looked into several surgeons/centers in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. I found the Geocaris' in Green Bay (Bellin Health) they are FANTASTIC. The RN involved with them is Tamara Brown and she too was FABULOUS!! I did do an in-service with Dr. Chou March 22, 2004 from Aurora Sinai and I, for no better words was rather repulsed by his demeanor. I swear he looked at those of us with adequate insurance with dollar signs in his eyes. The surgeons you mentioned, I am not familiar with. Picking a surgeon is tough. Take your time; it's a decision you can't make lightly. I am glad I took the time to sit through the "seminars" and do the meet and greets with the potential surgeons and their staff. I had been talking with my primary physician for over 10 years before I finally took the step to GBS a little more then 6 months ago (8/6/2004). Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any other questions. I have walked a friend and my aunt through the surgery. They are doing well. For me, I did hop on the scale on 2/6/05 my 6th month anniversary and I was 75# down!!! I see my surgeon for follow up tomorrow, to see how I am doing. Best of Luck!! E-mail me if you want more information. Michele

Hello Michelle, First congrads!!! on the weight loss. I know that it was hard to make the decision to go through the surgery. I struggled for yers like yourself. Like I posted to Dennis, I am not allowed to go out of net work. My insurance company gave me two doctors to chose from. They suggested that I make an appointment with both doctors and pick the one that I liked best. (go figure). Hope that its okay if I e-mail you for general info about the surgery itself. I am very curious about everything. Thank you very much for the posting.

Yolanda, I just had my surgery on the 17th with Dr Armstrong. He is on 27th street...his office is in the medical bldg in St Lukes. I was very happy with his demeanor and the time he took on my visits there...he answered every question, etc, and on my last visit right before my surgery he requested my entire family to be there. When we all came he spoke to my kids and asked them if they had any questions regarding my surgery...and did the same with my husband. I believe he truly cares about his patients. He has done over 200 surgerys and had no fatalities...and little complications. I was very sure of his abilities. I dealt with Suzy in the office quite a bit...she is awesome and also leads his support group. If you have any questions at all please email me. Donna

Hi Donna, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I am so glad that you were feeling well enough to post your message. I can't tell you how much this means to me. I want to know everything about Dr. Armstrong that I can find out. I called Dr. Siverhus' office and was told that someone would call me back. I was told that they only call once a week to screen to see if you are eligible for the surgery. I was told that after the telephone interview (if you qualify) you would be scheduled for a consult. WOW! I hope things are better with Dr. Armstrong. Thank you again.

Yolanda, My name is Bill Persick. I live in Manitowoc. I had my surgery on Feb. 4, 2004. My surgent was Dr. Tom Geocaris. He is in Green Bay and works out of Bellin hospital. My insurance was with Atena and it was a fight to get them to take care of this. My PCP is Dr. Diaz in Two Rivers. He refered me to Dr. Geocaris and has been following through on a regular basis. To get back on track Dr. Tom is the greatest. He has the ability to talk to you in language you can understand and will make sure you know all about the surgery and any complication that may occur. If there is anyway posible I would go to Dr. Tom. By the way I have lost about 100 pounds sense the surgery. Good luck. Bill
