Hello family

I am having a hard time getting approved for wls , my employer has an exclusion in the plan for wls , I have had a grievance meeting and was denied not do to medically necessity but due to exclusion in my plan , I dont know if the wisconsion commissoner of insurance would be able to help , If some one can steer me in the right direction. i HAVE HUMANA HMO. Is there another insurance that i can pick up to get wls , i am really struggling with my health , i have a bmi of 70.5 , i have serveral co morbities sleep apnea , arthritis , degernate joint diease , gerd , the list go on if someone know of some agency that will help with pay .

Sherry, The good news, Humana paid for my surgery on 12/20/04. The bad news, my understanding is that Humana has made WLS an exclusion on ALL policies as of 1/1/05. You may have luck going through the insurance commissioner because their reasoning for this is all the complications are too expensive and cause the premiums to raise. Or do you have the ability to change plans? What does your employer offer for plans? You may need to wait until the next open enrollment to do it. We are currently in our open enrollment and have a choice of Aurora and Covenant.
