Revision-Am I alone?Anyone else in my shoes? Surgery scheduled....
Hi everyone....I am all set to have a revision from a VBG that I had about 5 years ago to a RNY. I am excited but nervous - I attended a class at Froedert Medical College (that is where I am having my revision - Dr. Wallace) and everyone there was a first timer for having surgery - so I was wondering if anyone else from Milwaukee has been in my shoes...I am having the surgery because of major problems that I have had with the first surgery - and the doctor told me that he does not expect me to lose any weight because I have already had one weight loss surgery - so I guess I was wondering if anyone out there can PROVE him wrong - I would love to hear from someone that has had a revision or going to have a revision and how they are doing...He is an AWESOME Doctor and I am sure that he is just trying to make sure that I do not get dis-appointed if I do not lose any weight....Thanks......Crissy
Hi Crissy,
I am not having a rivision. I had the RNY surgery last April though and am down 84lbs. The reason I am responding to you is I worked for a Bariatric Surgeron for 3 years. I quit not because I didn't like my job, but because I was burnt out. My experience with people having revisions was that they were very satisfied with the results including continued weight loss due to the malabsorbtion factor. Keep in mind that your surgery is being done for strictly medical reasons. That's probably why he said what he said. Good luck with the next surgery. It is so much easier to adjust to than the VBG. I won't undo mine for the world! Keep us posted as to how your doing.
Happy Holidays! Stephanie
