Little or No Weight Loss, Normal?

Hi, I'm new here. Had an Open RNY on October 19th in Madison. The experience went pretty well. The surgeon says everything looks great. I lost 20 pounds in less than 20 days (271 lbs to 251 lbs). I have been exercizing (walking) from the beginning and this week started an hour of water aerobics each day. Now, no weight loss! I am really careful to get in 60g of protein and 64 oz of liquid each day. I am trying not to get frantic but have to admit that I feel nervous that maybe I'm one of those people where the surgery won't work. I'm 51 so I know that the older I am, the slower the weight comes off, but...... Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks

Sue, It has been less than a month and you've lost 20 pounds... That's nothing to worry about. We didn't put the weight on overnight, it is not going to come off overnight either. Give it some time... Especially now that your excersing more now. Ever hear muscle weighs more than fat? Your building up your muscles, and losing at the same time, right now the scale will not move much. Watch how your closthes fit, and how you feel. Don't be so stuck on the scale, it is an evil thing. Again, give yourself sometime, it is less than a month! Best of luck... Dawn in Milwaukee 3+ years post op 342/150

Thanks, Dawn. I appreciate the time you took to respond. Today was the first day that I didn't get on the scale. I think that is good advise.

Hi Sue, I also had surgery in Madison but on the 25th. I lost 22 lbs so far & am very happy with it. But, i feel stuck too. I am trying to get all my protein in & feel like i am stuffing my face constantly. I also keep moving up & down on the scale in a 2 lb radious. Crazy how we get worried so fast. Hopefully our bodies will keep burning if we keep giving it fuil. Best wishes. Laurie W
