any info on dr Blom at Freodtert?
I will also post this on the Milwaukee board. Has anyone had a dealings with a surgeon named Dr. Blom? He is from Froedtert in Milwaukee Wisconsin. My Dh has been refered to him for the surgery to bring hi stomach down from his chest. it's sitting in his rib cage and he can not breath. He was just denied for Roux-N-y surgery due to "lack of 6 month Doctor supervised weight loss program and He's not emotionally ready for the life change of RNY." He alos has huge hernias in his entire abdomen. he has everything in places other than where it belongs literally. I never heard of Blom and would appreciate any information about him. thanks, Cathy
Hi Cathy~ It's melissa, jet's daughter , do yo remember me?? Dr. Blom has worked w/ Dr. Wallace. Dr. Wallace is doing my RNY next Thursday and today I went for my pre-op class and there were a few that have Dr. Blom. I know That Dr. Wallace comes HIGHLY recommended, and so If Dr. Blom has trained w/ him, I bet he's just as good. Hope this helps!! Melissa
Hi Cathy!
Im Deb, and I had surgery by Dr. Wallace just 11 days ago. I also work for Froedert and can shed some light on Dr. Blom. He's been with the Hospital several years, and mainly did gastro "type" surgery (a leader in the field of minimally invasive..laproscopic) due to Dr. Nakeeb (former Gastric bypass surgeon) leaving Froedert for another offer outside of the state, Dr. Wallace has been training Dr. Blom for quite some time to help with the overwhelming demand for this surgery. Because Dr. Blom did alot of gastro/intestinal surgeries before, this surgery should be second nature to him. If you go to the main Website for the Medical College (www.mcw.edu) and go to "find a doctor" type in "Blom" you will find his picture and Bio.
When my fiance and I moved to this area last year in January, I sought work at the Medical College because of my health degree. Dr. Blom at the time had just returned from serving military duty and was looking for an admin asst. I have friends in that dept that told me about the opening and appied. I interviewed with Dr. Blom on 2 separate occassions. He is very straight forward Dr.(like Dr. Wallace) and won't give you any "just what you want to hear talk" He is a former New Yorker and can be blunt at times. Now although, I didn't get that job, but I do believe he is an excellent surgeon and individual just from my interviewing experiences. I'd still work for him if he asked!
Hope this helps!
