Negative Psych eval

Well, I went through it and it was just awful, with his conclusion that he does not feel I am ready for surgery because I am not able to see me in the future (thin). He wants at least 7 more visits. My co-workers think he may just be trying to "milk" the insurance. I'll do what I gotta do. The good thing is, I was very busy last night, and was not able to dwell on the negative things in life. Actually, had a great time, helping others do their genealogical work.

My husband and I both failed psych. eval. My dh went to a different surgeon and I continued and got a 2nd opinion. I HIGHLY reccomend doing that. Gala

HI Chris, My first eval was terrible and was also negative. The Dr. was a complete and total ass and I should have walked out. I went to a second one and he was an angel and I passed with flying colors. If you haven't been thin how can you see yourself in the future. I think he is trying to milk you. Get a second opinion.... Good luck to you. Cheri

Chris, I tend to agree with your co-workers, some doctors seem to drag the process out. I had 3 sessions for my psych evaluation, and felt like it could have all been handled in one quick session. He kept saying that he believed in being "thorough" and all the time was necessary. I kept my mouth shut, but was very angry when he started talking about his own personal life. It's not that I didn't care, but at $200 per hour... the session was supposed to be about me, not him. The eval came through okay, but I pretty much thought it was garbage. I could have gotten the same insight from taking a quiz in a woman's magazine. You have a good attitude when you say "I'll do what I gotta do." You might have to switch to another doctor, but eventually you will get what you want.

I have scheduled a new eval. It is two days before my supposed "next" appointment with the psychiatrist. Although when I called the insurance, they would have reluctantly approved the visits, but reminded me the psych eval for WLS is a medical issue, not mental health. I'm supposed to contact his office tomorrow with the authorization that I don't have. But something that explains almost EVERYTHING has come up and I will post it in another message.
