Hey Kathleen, I would like to help you out if I can. But I am really posting to answer your questions on both boards. First and foremost congrats on making the decision to see your cordinator & secondly your never too old to improve your health. Your only as old as you feel and I can attest that if you do have WLS you will not only look younger you will feel younger. During your first visit you will meet the cordinator answer some standard questions have a chance to ask your questions and get lots of info on the type of surgery and expectations of your surgeon. You will also be weighed to find your BMI. This first appt. is mostly informational to inform you and see if you qualify for surgery. My suggestions to you are simple do some research and prepare some questions on a notecard or scrap paper. Be informed on your type of surgerey and let the Doc know you are willing to take the risk. If at the end of your meeting both you and the Doc think you qualify for WLS they will set you up with the next step which is usually a Physc.. evaluation and join a support group. Then you will see a dietician, the surgeon again to set up pre-op and then you may see the dietician a second time. The entire process takes between 6-10 weeks. During that time you will be asked to lose a little weight or at least not gain any. Most surgeons will like to see you change you eating habits before surgery but not all. After initial consultation if aproved your provider will submit your paper-work to your insurer for review. Then it is just a waiting game. If your denied fight I was denied Twice before they finally seen things my way. That is about all I hope I answered your Questions. Good luck with what every you choose!! My prayers will be with you for a quick accptence and speedy process to WLS. Pj Manning

I know this may be a dumb question but when you say you need a revision does that mean you had surgery already once before and it did not work and it has to be redone over or reversed?

HI PJ--- THANK YOU so much for the input on the process. I thought that the r.n. I will be seeing will make the decision as to weather I can have a revision. Now I think that all the info she collects will go to a Dr. I have been worried about that. You have helped me a great deal.. thanks for your good wishes.. Kathleen
