I have had a real tough time of it. I had to have my surgery done over again because of leaking and twisting. Has anyone else out there had any complications? How do you get over the depression and frustration? I have lost 75 pounds, but at such a cost. I am still not totally on my feet after almost 4 months after my first surgery. How much longer is it going to take until I can start enjoying life?? I still have a stomach tube...Maybe its just feeling sorry for myself, but I would sure love to hear from someone who has made it through!!

You were right about posting it on the main board. I got an immediate response. Hope you got my email.....and thank you for the advice. It may sound cold, but its nice to know that I am not alone in this. Expecially when you hear how well people have recovered from various degrees of complications.

Hi Debbie! I was sorry to learn about your complication, but it does get better. I had surgery in 6/03 and had a major complication during surgery. I lost 8 units of blood and my spleen. I spent several days in ICU and a total of 9 days in the hospital. I never expected that, though of course I knew of the complications that could arise from the surgery. I also had 2 subsequent surgeries within the next 3 months not related to WLS. I know it is hard to remain positive when faced with the complications that sometimes occur. The one thing that kept me going was the success I was having with weight loss. I enjoyed watching the scale go down and down! I remember why I had this surgery and the very positive results that will happen long term, even if in the short term things appeared difficult or bleek. Keep talking about it, elicit the help of family and friends, and hold your head high. Keep telling yourself there are brighter days ahead, because there are!! As they say, the best is yet to come!! Best wishes and I will keep you in my prayers. Traci

Debbie, I am so sorry to hear about all the complications you have endured. I am in the process of getting information about the surgery. Stuff like this really scares me. What type of surgery did you have? Do you feel the problems were due to the doctor who performed your surgery? Congratualtions on the 75 pound weight loss. I hope things continue to look up for you. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to hear about your complications. I had complications that resulted in a second surgery 1 month later. Read my profile for detail - it was just spruced up It is now almost 10 months out and I am down 129lbs and I am feeling better every day. So after all I went thru and hernia surgery to come, it is still worth it. Keep the faith, it does get better!

I also am very sorry to hear about your complications however, being in the position I am in (first starting to check this out for consideration for myself) I want to also hear about complications and not all the good stuff. Hope that makes sense? I want to hear both sides before making a firm decision. thanks
