HELP, had surgery in Mexico, looking for support group in Milwaukee
Hi! I had my WLS in Mexico on August 3, 2004. Now I am home and looking for a support group that is open to anyone. Or advise from those *****member the early days after surgery. I seem to be having trouble with any non soft foods and would really like nothing better but to live my life on protein shakes and soft foods but I also know that is unrealistic. Help!
Hi Pat.
I live in Marshall which is about 50 miles West of you. I had surgery in March of this year and was given a pretty extensive list of acceptable and non acceptable foods to eat and at what stages. Why don't you e-mail me and let me know what your dr. recommended to you at the stages of recovery and I can compare notes.
Hopefully, I will hear from you soon. This will get better. It just will take time for your body to adjust to what it's been through.
Take care now...K-man
Hi Kathleen! I had my surgery in Mexico because my insurance would not pay for it. The costs in the states were between $20,000-50,000. In Mexico the cost for me, including air fare, hotels, food, shopping totaled $15,000. What is a revision? The surgeons who did my surgery did a RYN with a band above the new pouch. They have done over 1,000 of them and I could not have been more pleased with my surgeons. My family doctor was in full support of what I did and had worked with me trying to get my insurance company to cover it here to no avail. He will be taking all kinds of blood work the end of this month and then see if I need to see a nutritionist of any kind, so I may end up with a support group that a nutritionist refers. Thanks for the kind words and my responses have been wonderful, best of luck...Patricia
Patricia-
Hi!
We have a group in Milwaukee that anyone can attend! You can find the group at www.milwaukeewls.com - I'd love to see you join us! We get together tonight for dinner (6:00 on the Second Monday of each month) and then we meet the last Saturday morning of each month at 10:00 am.
Many of us are doing the Walk From Obesity this Saturday morning in Waukesha!
