Dr. Burhop patient - 2 weeks pre-op lap RNY ?s
HI Kelley-
I had Dr. Chiang for my RNY, but Dr. Burhop removed my gall bladder this past January. He's awesome! Surgery will take a few hours. It depends on what they find when they get in there - if you've had previous abdominal surgeries, etc. I think 2-3 hours is pretty "normal". Mine was about 4 I believe.
My after care has been awesome! We have an email group that you're more than welcome to take part in, and I highly recommend the hospital support group.
You will go home from the hospital on full liquids, which will include the no sugar added carnation instant breakfast. I believe that goes for a week and then they start you out on pureed food for a week or so, then soft and then regular things as you tolerate them. Some people move along quickly, others are a little slower. It really differs from person to person!
You'll make it! Don't worry. I know it looks like forever, but the time will go by quickly!
Please don't hesitate to contact me anytime!
