I had a VBG about 16 years ago. I am looking to have a revision and need any info from anyone else in a similar situation. Are there any surgeons who specialize in revisions? Any help would be appreciated.

Kathleen: I had the VBG about 8-9 years ago and just had the revision to the RNY last August. (check out my profile for more info) My surgeon has done several revisions, but I believe that any surgeon should be able to do it. My staple line disrupted causing me to be able to eat more food. I was given the choice of "waiting" to see if anything more serious would happen with the disruption of the staple line or a revision. Plus the banding around my opening was very small which gave me other problems. So I looked into all the options and found the RNY to best suit my needs. The side effect of dumping is a good one when it comes to limiting sugars etc. I don't regret doing the surgery for a second time and strongly support the RNY. I am down 100#'s since the revison. The VBG I lost a total of 75 and never made it below 250#'s. I am now 210 and hope to continue to loose. If you have any other questions, please email me. Good luck in your research and decision. Hi Vicky!! I just checked out your profile and found that you are a big Packers fan. Have you recovered from the humiliation of last Friday yet?? Thankfully, I was at work and didn't have to watch it, but I did listen to the game and was a bit unnerved that the 1st string offense is having so much difficulty getting the ball into the endzone. Hopefully, things will get better VERY, VERY soon!!! Anyways, you are doing great with your revision. Refresh my memory, where did you have the surgery and who was your surgeon?? How would you rate your experience?? I had mine in Green Bay even though I live 2.5 hours away. Dr. Tom Geocaris performed the procedure and literally saved my life twice. I owe my life to him and love going up there to see them at my checkups!! Well, since you are a Packers fan, I recommend that you check out my profile and let my know what you think!! You take care now and GO PACK!!!...K-Man

Hi there. Yes, I am a big Packer fan and have made it to two games in my entire life. (paid big $$ to, but it was worth it) My mother and I are die hard fans, but this preseason has been disappointing to say the least. I did not see the game, but heard some of it while camping. Glad I did not see it. My kids know that when a Packer game is on the TV or radio they better not interrupt for anything. Your doing great on your journey as well. I know what you mean about the support of your spouse. It makes all the difference in the world. I did not have complications like you but understand the grazing and munching all to well. I am sure that is what slows down my loss now that I am further out. I finally reached 100 lbs last week so I am excited about that. I went to Platteville and had Dr. Rebchook for surgery. My first surgery was done in Milwaukee because I lived in Beaver Dam at the time and that was the only option for the surgery. Now you can go almost anywhere, which I think is amazing and great. This surgery is a life saving tool and it is definately not the easy way out. I LOVE YOUR PROFILE PAGE!!!! I want to spruce mine up, but don't know how to. If you can explain how I can do that, email and let me know. I also love the song!!!! SO TRUE.. Take care and continued success to you as well. Vicky

Hi again Vicky!! Thanks for the reply. I love finding new people locally who have had this done. It is great to be able to compare stories and experiences. If you want to spruce up your page, post a message on the main board that you would like help or would like your profile spruced up. Most likely, an OH volunteer will respond with a web address you can send a request to. Then they will send you a message telling what you need to do to get ready for when they tell you that they have someone to do your page. They do such a great job and I love how mine turned out. I really think it gives people some idea who they are reading about and what kind of personality they have!! Good luck to you and when you get your page done, let me know. I will want to take another look. Be good...K-Man
