Scales and obsessive compulsive

Is a scale a MUST-HAVE? I have not owned a scale in years. It's the one thing I become absolutely obsessive-compulsive about. When I did have one, I was on it everytime I walked into the bathroom, and then some. I'm afraid it's one of those things that brings out some of my old eating disordered behaviors. It was hard to get rid of the offensive creature, so I am reticent (sp?) about bringing another one into the home. I believe for the most part I'm recovered from my bulimia (laxative abuse), but often any of the weight loss issues do bring back some of the thinking. I don't believe I will voluntarily go back to the behavior itself, because I believe some of my stomach troubles have resulted from that abuse. It's only a week to my consultation with Dr. Chiang. I've called my insurance and they are only requesting a letter of necessity from my primary physician. Well, we'll see, won't we.

Chris - If a scale is going to be a hinderance to your success don't have one. You will be weighed at Dr. Chiang's office as well as the nutionists (sp?) office. Good luck - let me know how things are going. It was nice to meet you at the support group meeting. Margaret
