I'm back home, too and doing well

My open RNY last Wed. went very well. I was determined to do all the right things to get released early. I start school this Thurs. and I don't want to miss even 1 day. The surgery went very well, but I don't have many nice things to say about the hospital and staff. The stress I went through was horrible. Now that I'm home, I'm going to find another Dr. down in this area who can take over my care because I will NOT go back up north even to have my staples out. If any one is reading this and from the SW Wisc. area and knows of a WLS, please drop me a line. I'm also not thrilled about not having anything but clear liquids for 3 weeks....no protein. I can understand 2 weeks to allow for proper healing, but no protein for 3 weeks is going to be tough. I'm weak, but can still function. I do get enough of my liquids in. I will be updating my profile soon.

Well, if Central Wisconsin, Stevens Point, to be exact, isnt too far, I would recommend Dr. Christopher Reising....He is at the Rice Medical Center, Stevens Point. He did my surgery in May, and has been wonderful, the nursing staff was EXCELLANT as well....He has a great team that works with him....Maybe give them a try?? Lora Lap RNY 5-26-04 ps...I am so sorry to hear you had a bad experience...this should be a joyful one for all of us!! Hope things get better, and welcome to the Loosing Team!

You can try Dr. Rebchook in Platteville. He is an excellent surgeon and I would highly recommend him. (I had mine 8/13/03 in Platteville) I think he would be willing to see you even though you had surgery elsewhere. We also have support group meetings in Platteville at the hospital on the last Thursday of the month. Our next meeting is Aug 26 at 6pm. Use the entrance at the end of the hospital by the cafeteria. You do not need to be Dr. Rebchook's patient to attend these meetings. Sorry to hear your stay was bad. In a few months you will forget everything your going thru and you WILL say it was worth it. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always email me at [email protected]. Take care. Vicky

Thank you all for your suggestions. I made an appt. with Dr. Rebchook in Platteville. They are so nice there. The clinic up north isn't too happy and can't understand why I won't go back there. I am so weak today and cannot get to school or go out because I am constantly on the toilet. Sorry, too much information there. I am so depressed I wish I could stop crying and *****ing....been this way since the day after surgery. I called my therapist finally. I keep telling myself: "This, too shall pass." (ha ha joke..not!)
