Hello: hoping to have surgery soon but am hoping it will be laproscopic RNY in Wausau. My first appointment is Monday in Wausau. If it has to be open, I will probably have it at HYMC. I live in Eagle River. I hope to have a lot of my pretests at Woodruff. Just wanted to say good luck and I would enjoy hearing of your progress. A girl I know from Phelps who had the surgery there is doing fantastically. I bet you will do the same. Take Care. Debbie

Debbie, Thank you for your support, I am having an open RNY in Woodruff, Dr. Seidel will be doing the surgery. I also have Multiple Sclerosis, and after an extreme amount of thought, and the trust I and my neurologist have in Dr. Seidel, we both thought this would be my best way to get this done. I am not having an excaberation at this time, and I had two C-sections in Woodruff, I have the utmost confidence in them. I hope that the stress that this operation has on my body will not set me up for problems with my MS, but that is a chance I am willing to take. I hope all goes really well with you, and I hope that you get your wish for the type of RNY you feel comfortable with.. Take Care, and the Best of Luck. T.

Take this opportunity to set realistic goals for yourself post op. Pick an exercise that you can stick with for life. I started swimming post op and never had to have any extra skin removed. It really toned and sculpted my body while losing the weight. Now I run marathons and swim 4-5 days per week. Also, plan on a lifestyle of a low fat diet for the rest of your life. It's only food, and you now know how destructive it can be to your body. It took me my first year to experiement with foods and have settled into a realistic low-fat diet. Exercise is a real key to getting it off and keeping it off. You'll do fine, but it doesn't happen overnight. Give yourself at least a one year goal. The first 6 months it comes off really quick, then it slows down. Good luck!

I am an old Minocqua resident, now living in SW Wisc., but will also be having my open RNY by Dr. Seidel at HYMC. I was just recently approved! I have the utmost confidence in Seidel (he's been our family surgeon for years) and the staff is really top-notch. I know things will go great for you, and it won't be long before your blood sugar will go down post op. I will keep you in my prayers. Keep in touch! Cindy
