Nervious about my PHys evaluaton

I am so nevious about my phy evaluation , I have an appt 07/13 . Can someone tell me what to expect. I had my group, my ekg , lab work and phys therapy. What happens after the phys evaluation. Will I get my surgury date? I have Humana insurance ,i don't know if they are going to pay .Does any one have insurance with Humana and have you had problems getting approved for wls.

hi sherry, DO NOT worry about your eval. basically all i had to do is fill out a short questionaire with backround info, then the doc just asked me simple quesitions about it. i think that was kinda to get an idea if there were any serious mental issues or anything like that. it was pretty painless, and i hate doctors (any kind). after that, they just sent results directly to my surgeons office. i have compcare blue bc/bs, so i dont know about humana. feel free to email me. m

sorry, i thought you meant psch eval. for my pcp physical, it was just blood pressure, weight, ears, feeling around on abdomen, and back, listening to lungs. pretty easy stuff. dont stress. again, remember, i hate docs, and it was fine. good luck, m

Hi Sherry, I see that you also have dr. burhop. I had my psych eval. just over a month ago. I went to see Dr. Doug Lyman. I was very nervous too, but I just decided to be myself and spoke from the heart. We just sat in his office and he asked me a bunch of questions about my eating history, why I want the surgery,etc. and then I filled out a 20 question psych. test - basic questions I think to see if you're depressed or anything.. and it was over, only took just over 1/2 hour. It went very well. I treated myself to some flowers to plant in my garden afterwards, I was very relieved when it was over. I'm just curious, who are you going to see from the group? I originally scheduled with the woman psych. at elmbrook but I heard she was very pricey, so I switched. I think it took about 3 wks after everything was done for them to submit to my insurance, I found that you have to keep calling to see how things are going. I just got approved last week. ( don't know about humana ) good luck sue

Hello I have a question for you , and oh by the way it was nice hearing from you, this is a wonderful website. I was given a list of psych doctors, I was told at my first consultation that the psych lady doctor at Elmbrook, her charges were too high. So I called other doctor that they gave me in the blue folder. One doctor told me that he needed 200.00 up front , the other doctors had answering services , we kept playing phone tag. So I decided to call the lady doc at Elmbrook, do you think that this will cause a problem, i just really got tried of playing phone tag with the other doctors and i wanted the appt done and over with. When i read your response , i thought they told me that she was expensive, do you think that it is better to cancel my appt with her and get another doctor? I don't want anything to jepardize my chances of my insurance company not approving my wls. Thank you for listening.

Hi Sherry. I have Humana Insurance, I also work for the company. It did take them awhile to pre approve me, a month.... But, I would suggest, calling them a few times a week as soon as you know they have your paperwork from the Dr's. They tend to be a bit slow. I would suggest finding out who is handling the pre-auth. It would be a case manager nurse, get the name and extention. That way your not dealing with the customer service staff when you call back. In the end it will all be worth it. Good luck.... Luann

Take a deep breathe and relax. You have gotten this far. You are one step closer to your goal. I am at the same spot you are my next test is a sleep study.I am hoping to have that done soon then i just have to wait for insurance approval. Surgery date wont be till after your innsurance approves the surgery. Take care sharon
