New to this website...
Hi!
I am scheduled for Open RNY with Dr. Armstrong on July 28th. I've researched this surgery for a long time, and am anxious to be on the losing side. I've been "lurking" on the OH message board for the last six months and decided to join when I received my surgery date. I'm 50 years old and have fought this battle for many years. My BMI is 44.3. I don't have any specific questions, but if there is anyone out there that would like to share some "words of wisdom", I'd love to hear from you.
Hi Gail!
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! You are making a wonderful decision! Believe in yourself and continue to have positive thoughts about how this surgery will change your life, because it will!
I don't have any "words of wisdom" really......just remember to follow your surgeon's directions before and after surgery, walk as much as possible to keep your circulation going, and sip all day long!
I wish you the very best, and please keep all of us posted on your progress!
Take care, Traci
Thanks, Traci. I'm very excited about the surgery...but as the day gets closer, I keep wondering if I'm doing the right thing...then I realize that I AM doing the right thing...for me! From "lurking" on this website for so long, I know that almost everyone has these thoughts prior to surgery...along with the "what did I do to myself" thoughts the first week or so AFTER surgery. That's what I find so invaluable about OH...it helps you to know what to expect...and how you'll probably feel after surgery.
Thanks again for your response.
Gail
