I got approved!!!
I just got my letter of approval from United Healthcare in the mail today. It only took 3 weeks, that's too bad. Tommorrow first thing I am calling my surgeon's office to set the surgery date.
I am a graduate student majoring in Spanish Literature and this is my last week of class, so hopefully I can be scheduled Asap, because I want to take advantage of the next 3 months, and concentrate on recovery and adjusting to a new life style.
I am so excited, to return to the confident and gorgeous person (ha, ha) I was went I was 18, before I started packing on the pounds. I am now 26 and have spent 6 years over 200 pounds and have seen and felt the change in the way people treat you when obese. As a teen (with a great fashion sense , Ha Ha! Can you tell I was vain?) I had male teachers eating out the palm o my hand and it just wasn't because I was intelligent, and peole are just plain nicer to you. Unfortunately, that is the way are society is.
This surgery for me isn't just about vanity for me but about my health. My goal is to be healthy and not suffer from the same health problems that my family does, when they hit midde age.
My Process so far:
Hi my name is Gloria. I haven't posted for a couple of months, so here's an update on the process for those of you who have United Healtcare. On 2-24-04 I met with Dr. Wallace, my surgeon. 3-09-04 went for an abdominal ultrasound, I have some gallstones. 3-11-04 I had my consult with the psycologist. She wanted to she me a month later before approving me for surgery, so I had time to go to support groups and tell more family. April 12 had scond consult with my psycoligist and she gave me the okay. With everything complete, my paperwork was sent on April 22. Today I received the letter fron UHC giving me approval. Yeah!
