Hi, I'm new to this message board stuff so please have patience with me. When I began seriously on this journey at the beginning of Feb I was scared to death, not of the life style changes but of the pain, complications, and possiblity of dying. But as I have gone thru all the doctors, tests, and support groups alot of my fears are not as extreme and now I'm just impatient as heck! I go for my sleep study in about a week and then back to the pulmonary doc for breathing tests, after that they should be submitting everthing to my insurance, which has told me it should take no more than two weeks for approval. I want to commend all those out there that have been thru such long journeys and still stayed committed, how do you do it?

Hi Jeannette. I thought I replied to your post but it doesn't say I did...so if this is double post forgive me. Your last sentance "how do you stay committed" Well....right now I am feeling like I might just have to be "committed"...cause I'm loosing my patience very fast. Then again..what is the outcome if I don't stay committed?? I am still fat, miserable and don't enjoy life. So that is my saving grace. The hope and peace that I will not feel 50 yrs old when I am only 30. The fact that I have 3 children -- and to be able to go and do things with them that right now I can't... That is why I keep going. Love, Gala

Hi Jeanette! One of the ways we stay committed is by attending our surgeon's support meetings. Seeing the others who have succeeded and how they also struggled have given me strength! See you at the meetings!
