Support groups?

Hi -- I'm a newbie, and I have a question: Does anyone know if there are any support groups in Madison? After a tedious and futile battle with my primary insurer, I finally realized that my major medical insurance does cover the surgery. So now I'm trying to figure out next steps, and I need some folks who know how I'm feeling. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Kathy, There is a really good group that meets at Meriter on the first Tuesday of every month. It is attended by either Dr. Garren or Dr. Gould or both and they are so ready to help in any way. They answer any and all questions you may have and then there is an open discussion with all the people there so you can learn about their experiences as well. I am having my surgery this Tuesday and I have attended meetings since January and find them extremely beneficial. There is also a couple of other meetings around town as well. One is with Cinda Lamar out on Odana Rd. that is the second Tuesday of the month and then on the third Tuesday some of the folks meet at East Towne Mall Food Court--they will have balloons on the table so you know who they are. Anyone is welcome to attend any or all of these meetings and they are free. Lots to learn and all of the people are more than willing to help you. Good luck on your journey.
