insurance rejection / alternatives

Does anyone know or have any advice as to what one would do if they are rejected by insurance? Seems that Medicaid does not consider GERD a comorbidity anymore, and my sleep study for my apnea was a bust because I couldn't sleep in a strange place. My surgeon has submitted my request, but I'm not holding my breath and he says he would be shocked if they approved it. I just am not "sick" enough. Isn't that sad, to be over 100#s overweight and have all kinds of crap going on, but they are not considered life-threatening in their eyes. I am so depressed and desperate. I just don't know what to do. Cindy

Try appealing the rejection sometimes insurance companies want to see how bad you want this surgery and how hard you are willing to fight for it. I had very few if any co-morbidities... I snored, my blood pressure was good, no diabeties, the only other things that I had was sore feet and a sore back. nothing terrible though and Mine was approved. try the sleep study again and stay up if you can 24 hrs prior and you are sure to sleep while there. If this is something you want fight for it as hard as you can. Good luck Sandy
