Insurance appeal for Procedure

Hello all, I am a long time reader but this is my first post. My insurance plan changed on January 1st to allow for WLS if the requiremennts are met. I made it through all the loops I had to jump through to get apporval and did. The problem is my insurance (United Healthcare EPO) will only approve me for Open Gastric Bypass and both the surgeon and I feel the Lap-Band is a better choice for several reasons. The surgeon's office no longer assists with appeals. Does anyone out there know how to go about convincing my insurer to cover the Lap-Band also. Any information would be great. Thanks, Daniel

Hi Daniel, I have Physicians Plus insurance and I have called and done an appeal and they refuse to cover any bariatric surgeries. I understand that PP and Dean Care are two of the worst insurance companies for these proceedures. I will have to pay out of pocket for my surgery. Denise
