Peace and Greetings to everyone, My name i Ifama and I am so happy that we have this local Forum. I live in Milwaukee and I had my surgery on January 31, 2003. It has been quite a journey and one that I have found satisfying inspite of a couple of problems. I am very happy with my weight loss and have had more energy than I have ever imagined. I don't weight myself a lot but at last weight I had lost a total of 132 pounds. I am 5'4 and started out weighing 322 lbs. I feel absolutely wonderful but went to the board this morning to find answers to a problem that is bothering me and hope to find a solution to it. I am experiencing cramps in my legs at night and wonder if I am having a potassium deficiency. I hope someone here has had this experience and will share what their solutions were in the meantime I will let you all know what I found and if there is something that "I" can do about as opposed to running to the doctor's office. Well take care and hope to hear from others in my area.

Welcome! the leg cramps could be a potassium deficiency. Bananas can help. Or maybe calcium deficiency - drinking milk could help. Your doctor is always a good source for help with this stuff. Good luck!

Do you take multivitamins every day? If not... start. I take two flintstones vitamins a day (women are reccomended to take Flintstones w/ Iron, due to Iron loss from menstruation), and I also take 2 - 500 mcg sublingual Vitamin B-12 supplements a day. I have done this since day one postop, and I have not had a cramp once. Also, make sure you are staying very well hydrated; dehydration can also lead to muscular cramping. Good luck and keep up the good work!
