I am just starting out and am scheduled to attend the seminar on April 7th. Has anyone had Dr. Chua as their surgeon? If so, how was your experience with him? Did it take a long time to get your surgery date? Does he have his own Psychologist and Nutritionist that he has you see? I f anyone can help me out with these questions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanx! 8-l

Judy, I have had Dr. Chua...He most recently did my surgery...I had my procedure on March 11th...Everything is going very well...I have lost 14.5 pounds in 12 days...I am starting to gain some energy back too...As for how long does it take I couldn't give you a accurate description..I first tried for the Lap Band and was denied and then after acquiring getting new insurance I was denied again..Each new insurance company would pay for my initial visit to Dr. Chua but denied the surgery.....Finally, I went with a Bue Cross plan that covered the surgery..It however, did not cover the Lap Band...This took about three years using different insurance carriers....When I called Dr. Chua and had them resubmit all my paperwork I got a response from Blue Cross in 9days...Not too bad...I was scheduled for surgery 6weeks later...Initially when I had my appointments for dietician and psy it took about 4 weeks to get those appointments completed...If I can be of any further help let me know.. Can you tell me, does Dr. Chua have his own psychologists and dieticians that he uses?

Hi Judy! I had Dr. Chua, but I had the lap-band. He's great! Don't know what kind of surgery you're interested in. I was banded on 2-13-04, amd have lost 31 lbs. It's totally different than an RNY, but I highly recommend it! He operates out of two different hospitals, and he sends you to a Psychologist, and nutritionist from them. Mine were from St. Francis Hosp., and both great! The whole thing took me about 5 months. Good luck to you! If you have more questions, just e-mail me, I would be glad to help! Sharon

Hi! I have Dr Chua. I had the RNY 3/4/04 and lost 28 lbs so far. I was very secure with him. He has you use a Pysc at Aurora Siani or Saint Frances. But he does have his own Nutrionalist. He has done this surgery since approx 1978 i beleive. I am happy I did this. Sue

I have heard that Dr. Chua is very good from many people. I have Dr. Engstrand and he works out of Elmbrook Hospital. I only have seen him once and my surgery should be about the second week of May. I didn't have to go to the seminar in Milaukee. This is about 1 1/2 hours from home so the less I have to go the better. Denise

I had a lap rny on 02/24 and have lost 45 lbs so far, Dr chua did a great job and is one of the best laproscopic surgeons anywhere, He has a psych and diet counsels at aurora sinia, My whole process took about 6 months but could have gone faster if I would have been a little bit closer to Milw. but had to work the travel into my work schedule. I would recommend Dr Chua highly.
